Andover Wheelers was formed in 1933 and attracts riders from across the whole spectrum of cycling including Time Trials, Cyclo-cross, Road racing, Mountain biking, Track racing, Audax and Triathlon. If you are keen cyclist and ready to enjoy riding and racing we are interested in helping you. The club is affiliated to British Cycling, British Cyclo Cross Association and Cycling Time Trials and is located in the South (P) district. The 2010 Weyhill Weekend 10 mile TT on Saturday 11^th September has been cancelled due to Roadworks, although the 25 mile TT on Sunday 12^th September will still go ahead Unfortunately we are cancelling the Saturday 10 mile TT event on the P613 of the Weyhill Weekend on Saturday 11th September 2010. This is due to the closure of the A303 at the turn at 100 acre roundabout, from Saturday 11th September at 8.00pm until 8.00am Sunday 12th September, as the new bridge being put into place. There will be stop/go boards on the slip roads from 3pm to enable the works traffic to move everything that’s needed to put the new bridge in. As safety is paramount, we are not willing to take the risk of riders on a turn that is not safe, let alone up the slip road with a lot of traffic fighting for the road. Andover Wheelers Stockbridge Down Road Race – Sunday 26^th September The Andover Wheelers are promoting an 'Open' road race on Sunday 26th September. The event is based in Stockbridge and uses a circuit on the roads between Stockbridge and Winchester in Hampshire. Please see links to course details, entry form and promotional leaflet. Andover Wheelers Track Championships – Saturday 9^th October Moving on from our successful track evenings, the club are going to arrange another track night but with a more competitive theme - The Andover Wheelers Track Championships. The exact events we will run is still to be decided, but there will be something for everyone to have a go at - Kilo, Pursuit, Scratch Races, Sprint - but obviously down to experience and what you feel confident in doing. A timetable of events will be agreed nearer the time once we have an idea of numbers. The Calshot track has been provisionally booked for Saturday 9th October. Gregg James is organising things so please contact him direct if you would like to take part (gregg.james25@ntlworld.com). The costs have yet to be agreed but it’s probably just going to cost you the hire of the bike. We will confirm nearer the time.
