Cycling report by Simon Foster - Andover Wheelers
In the latest of Andover Wheelers local Time Trials the riders have faced tough conditions. With the club still using the shortened version of their usual 10mile course riders were able to compare their times from 1 week earlier. Due to the strong winds times were slower than previous.
Fastest on the night was Jake Prior with 20.09min for the 8.8miles. He was followed home by Lee Gardner in 20.55 with Roger Hartnell 3rd in 21.28. Showing signs of improvement on his comeback is William Grainger with 22.04 for 4th place. Other times:-S Thompson 22.28, N Adnitt 23.27, M Risdale 24.23, K May 26.02, Alison Hartnell 26.14 and Jane Pattinson 27.39.
Two weeks later the riders were back on the full 10mile version of the course. With the weather cold and windy fast times were not expected. Riding his first evening club event of the year Neil Coleman took the honours in a time of 21.10min followed by Jake Prior in 21.41min.
The battle for 3rd proved to be a tight run thing with Lee Gardner just pipping Phil Jacobs by just 2 seconds with 23.02min to Jacobs' 23.04min.
