Andover Wheelers hosted our Open time trial on Sunday morning. The weather was perfect; bright and sunny with the lightest of westerly wind. We had 70 riders on the start sheet so an enjoyable morning of racing was assured.

The women's event was won by Caroline Nottage of Army Cycling Union in 23:25, second was Emma Davies (Port Talbot Wheelers) with 23:46 and third place Michelle Lindley (Poole Wheelers) in 23:56. Emma won on Vet standard as well making it a worth while trip over from Wales.

In the open category, fastest was Howard Bayley on a3crg with a time of 19:25. Second and third places were claimed by the Army Cycling Union, Lee Watson in 19:39 and Jack Smy just one second behind with 19:40. Howard also claimed the Vet standard prize.

This event was also our club 10 mile championships. The winners were Max Webber (20:04) and Rachel Waite (24:38) who were respectively a very creditable seventh and fifth overall. Full results are on the CTT website here https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/events/32080-andover-wheelers-10

Most importantly, special mention must go to all the volunteers that made this event possible. To name a few: Max who not only assisted in the organising but got up especially early on the day to put out the signs, and then collect them after. (And still managed to win the club champs!). Caroline, Rose and Nikki for running the catering keeping the riders supplied with drinks and cake. Maria who travelled up to time keep. Nick, Mike and Dave who managed the start and finish. Lee, Barry and Rupert for marshalling at Bullington. Paul and Billy for helping with the signs. Darrell for manning the sign-on when I had to 'push off'. Also, to all those that donated cakes, too numerous to mention all by name. It would have been a very sorry affair without them!

Finally thanks to Barry and Rach for recording the event and loading the pictures onto Google Photo Album, accessible via this link, https://photos.app.goo.gl/P6sRzTUuVUtLs7JS6 Please do feel free to download and share them on your social media.
