Social and Training Rides

Saturday Wheelers Rides

The beautiful Hampshire countryside is the backdrop to our Saturday Club rides, they're a great way to explore the area and discover routes and places you may not have visited before.

As a club we meet at the Portway Inn Car Park at the top of Weyhill Road, Andover, ready to leave at 09.30am every Saturday throughout the year, weather permitting.

We generally have four groups of riders to cater for all abilities and we're happy for you to try the club rides for a few weeks to see if it's for you. To carry on riding with us after that, we'd expect you to become a full member.

Meeting Point: The Guildhall, Andover.

Meeting Time: 09:00am to ride promptly at 09:05am

Rider Level: Advanced
Distance: 50 - 80 miles

The route will vary from week to week and will be determined by the Club Captain. Routes will be posted on the club's Facebook page with accompanying GPS files for those with GPS navigation devices.

The rides are of around 50 miles in November and December, then slowly increase in length through the early spring to around 80 miles in March. There is almost always a stop at a café for coffee and cake (or fry-up!).

We ride in a group; no-one will be left behind. However, these rides can be quite taxing so it is advisable that you are prepared for the possibility of completing the ride at a slower pace to avoid delaying the other riders.

If large groups attend then sometimes the group will split into a slower and faster groups depending on numbers and who's out. If this happens then it's down to the riders on the day to organise the ride into appropriate groups.

During the late Spring and Summer months during the racing season, these formal runs do not take place. But if you turn up at the Guildhall at 9am on a Sunday during this period you may find that other club members have also had the same idea.  Also, keep an eye on our Twitter feed as this may announce any unplanned Sunday Rides.
